The peloton of the Tour of Serbia headed from Vršac towards Belgrade today. A bunch sprint was expected even before the start, and the Team United Shipping riders controlled the critical parts of the stage throughout the day. However, the yellow jersey wearer, Mihajlo Stolic, struggled for most of the stage.
Our Serbian sprinter still managed to sprint to third place. The stage was won by Lorenzo Cataldo, who, thanks to the time bonuses, also took over the overall lead.
Mihajlo about Saturday:
“It was a terrible day. I woke up feeling sick and felt bad all day long. I’m still in bed, lying sick. I’ll see if I’m able to start tomorrow, but right now the feeling isn’t good.”

Veljko, racing in the Serbian national champion’s jersey:
“It’s a really nice feeling and always a pleasure to race in Serbia. I’m very happy and proud to wear the national champion’s jersey at my home race. Racing in mid-October is quite funny, as most of the peloton is already mentally on vacation, but I and the whole team are very motivated to help our sprinters, Stole (Stolic) and Niki (Arvanitou), to fight for victories here.”
