Rainy finish in Zagreb

The final 150-kilometer stage of the CRO Race, running from Samobor to the capital of Zagreb, unfolded under consistently challenging conditions, marked by cold temperatures and relentless rain. The course was structured uniquely, first taking the riders into Zagreb before leading them out for a loop, finally returning for a tight street circuit where the conclusion would be decided over several quick, technical laps.

The big teams controlled the stage, leaving little doubt that it would end in a bunch sprint. The sprint was won by IPT’s Oded Kogut ahead of Magnier. Team United Shipping’s Serbian sprinter, Mihajlo Stolić, finished in 11th place. The overall classification was won by Brandon McNulty.

Mihajlo on the final stage:

“Today’s stage was extremely tough and really mentally exhausting. Physically, it was the least demanding stage, but mentally it was very difficult due to the heavy rain and cold. I really struggled with the cold; I could barely warm up and was literally shaking throughout the entire race. I wore several layers of clothing, which I didn’t take off before the sprint, and that slowed me down even more. On top of that, my legs were already very tired. See you at the Tour de Serbie!”

Schuran on his tough last days:

“The last stages were quite tough. Especially the queen stage, where I really wanted to get into the breakaway – I even set some personal bests for a five-minute effort, but with so many WorldTour teams, it still wasn’t enough. I was very active at the beginning of every stage, but if you don’t have the same power as the WT riders, you also need some luck to make it into the breakaway. I’m happy I could race alongside the best riders in the world – it keeps me motivated to train hard and be in better shape for next year’s races. This season is over, but I already have goals for the next one. I’ll turn 30 next year, and you never know which season might be your last. So now I’ll take a little rest – in two weeks I’m getting married, and then preparation for next season can begin.”
