This year’s Tour of Romania concluded on a circuit in downtown Bucharest. Once again, the weather did not favor the peloton, as strong crosswinds made the day difficult. On the city circuit, however, this ultimately had less of an impact, and the peloton reached the finish together. Unfortunately, Team United Shipping was reduced even before the stage began. Due to illness, Erik Fetter and Márkó Tóth were unable to start, but the team still held its place in the general classification, with Nikiforos Arvanitou finishing the Tour of Romania in 9th overall.
The final stage was won by Poland’s Radosław Frątczak, while the overall victory went to Cesare Chesini.
Erik on his difficulties:
“Unfortunately, I felt ill and couldn’t start the final stage. Towards the end of the race, several of us on the team struggled with health issues, so we weren’t able to finish on a high note. But of course, health comes first, so now we’re focusing on recovering as quickly as possible.”
