The second day of the Upper Austria Tour featured a stage from Eferding to Ried Im Innkreis. The peloton tackled approximately 2000 meters of elevation gain in the Alpine terrain.
The day’s breakaway consisted of Tobias Nolde, Yoshiki Terada, Otto van Zanden, and Josef Dirnbauer, who at one point held a maximum advantage of four and a half minutes. The peloton began to chase in earnest with 35 kilometers remaining. In a crosswind section, Bálint Feldhoffer was among those who formed a breakaway group, but the peloton swiftly neutralized this move.
“We were not involved in the sprint,” Bálint said. He finished in 35th place, the best result for his team on the day. The stage was initially won by Carlos Alfonso Garcia from Petrolike but he was later relegated, awarding the victory to Marcin Budziński of ATT Investments. Bálint Feldhoffer maintains his second place in the overall standings.
Bálint about his attack:
“The bunch wanted to catch the breakaway very quickly. After we caught them they started attacking each other. It was obviously quite stressful to stay at the front, but at one point I was able to attack. The legs are still good.”
